The Broncos Boys Basketball team hosted the Dux of Zeeland West Thursday night in a makeup game from Tuesday. The first quarter was a defensive battle as neither team could really get going. The Dux ended the quarter with a 10-7 lead. In the 2nd quarter after the teams traded a few baskets, the Broncos got their pressure going forcing many Dux turnovers and taking a 23-20 lead into halftime. In the 2nd half, the Broncos pulled away steadily, shooting 65 % in the 3rd quarter with Riley Johnson leading the way with 10 of the Broncos 20 points in the quarter. The Broncos led 43-30 after the 3rd. In the 4th, Coopersville expanded their lead to as many as 21 points on a Nate Castenholz 3 pointers and ended the game with a 58-40 win.
Riley Johnson led the team with 25 points, Nolan Frye had 19 and Connor Hilton had 8 points off the bench. The Broncos are in action again Friday December 22 at Forest Hills Northern.
