Broncos News · Girls Soccer Opens Season with 2-2 Tie

The Lady Broncos traveled to Zeeland West on a cold Friday night to battle the Dux in their annual match.  The first half saw play on both ends of the field with ZW outshooting the Lady Broncos 7-5 yet no goals were allowed and the halftime score was knotted at 0-0.

The second half showed a scoring outburst as Katelyn Messock opened up the seasons scoring just 28 seconds in with a nicely placed shot past the Dux keeper.  ZW would even the score only a few minutes later.  Both teams took turns on offense for the next 15 minutes but it was the Lady Broncos with the go ahead goal with 17 minutes remaining on a blast from Erin Mason from 20 yards out.  ZW evened the score at 2-2 with 8 minutes remaining for the final score.  The Lady Broncos outshot the Dux in the 2nd half 8-6.

All 22 players on the roster played and contributed to the final result.  Overall it was a solid effort against a very talented team.  The Lady Broncos next game is the Tuesday after spring break against Calvin Christian, which gives a few players an opportunity to heal some minor injuries that are bothersome.  The season looks very promising!
