Coopersville’s season came to an end last night with a hotly-contested loss to Forest Hills Eastern. In a game between two very evenly matched teams, the Hawks were able to convert some timely free throws and hold off the Broncos. The game was very close throughout with Coopersville holding a 3 point lead at 6-3 after Connor Helsen scored the first 6 points of the game for the Broncos. Forest Hills’ largest lead was at 28-23 midway through the 3rd quarter before Connor Hilton and Chase VanKempen hit back to back 3 pointers to give Coopersville the lead for the first time since the first quarter. The game was tied or one team or the other had a one point lead for the entire 4th quarter. The Hawks were able to score their last 6 points from the free throw line. Coopersville had numerous chances to tie or take the lead late but were unable to score, missing a 3 pointer at the buzzer that would have sent the game to overtime.
Coopersville was led in scoring by Nolan Frye with 13 and Riley Johnson with 10. They finish the season with a record of 15-7.
